where did you get the material? or did you make it yourself? i want to do my seats but i don't have any experience in upholstery.
Junk yard in Germany where I'm living for a couple years. I'm trying to compile all the cool parts I can while here. My next big score will hopefully be some 15" Hartge (I think) wheels.
In terms of doing your own, unless you have good sewing machine skills- as well as said sewing machine- I'd just get a kit from someone like The Artisan from over on E30tech. I think his kit for a microfiber front and rear is about $600. You strip and recover the seat yourself. I've looked very loosely into getting it done for my past (leather) E30s and it was going to be around $600 a seat, so I think this was a decent deal. Plus, if I can use this fabric, then it will be an even bigger savings.
Which brings me to another question. I don't plan on paying the entirely ridiculous amount for new heated seat elements (my junk yard score ones were bad) and was just going to get some aftermarket ones. Would the aftermarket ones be able to make it through the padding as well as the material? The OEM elements- this is for a vertically stitched setup- goes in between the padding and the material, so I'm wondering on effectiveness of the heaters.
