Just passing their name to the staff can accomplish that.

For those of you willing to spend $10 bucks a year on your own domain, it's really quite simple to set it up with Google Apps for my Domain Standard (free) Edition.  You get up to 5 accounts, you can have a shared calendar, chat, Sites, shared documents, etc. so it's perfect for a family or a group of friends (or you can just use it for yourself).  Plus you get webmail that's identical to Gmail's interface, but with you@yourdomain.com instead of @gmail.com.  Postini-based spam control... man I should work for Google.

Anyways if anyone needs any help setting this up, send me a PM.

There lots of free web based emails that work, you just have to dig.
Net scrape and Aohell are not blocked.

I only tried to block the more common spammer used ones like Yahoo, MSN, Gmail, and .RU domains.

I just wish the forum email notifications worked again.  If it's a question of hosting and/or assistance, I'll gladly help -- I may be a car noob but I've been setting up web and email servers for years.

What gravyface said.  Not being able to get instant (or even daily) notification of replies to subscribed threads really reduces the utility of the site.  I just created a thread on r3vlimited.com and got an email 5 minutes later that someone'd replied.  It could take me days to notice a reply here. :(

Hola Picholla!!!!  So I just joined.

I am a member of r3v and e46 fanatics under the same name.  I recently got my 1991 318is and save for some work that needs to be done, I am in LUB...I almost did not join because my 'free' email account did not pass the gestapo email police.  I so happen to have several other email addresses that I pay for, so now you know I am rich and semi-famous (right...).

It may be a good idea to post the Member Validation crap upfront, so that the deterrant system allows legit folks to join.

Keep up the great work Matt B.!!!!!

PS: I will work in my signature some time soon...

Same problem here. Couldn't join with my Gmail account, tried e-mailing, no answer.
Just joined now with my work e-mail and can't even change the e-mail.

I am not a bot, I am a real person with a real 318is from Belgium.. Is it possible for a mod to change my e-mail address so I won't get notifications in my work inbox?

Thanks in advance.. Glad to join the community.

It's not currently possible.  If it's any consolation, I agree with you.  I'm not permitted to use GMail myself.

That's just ridiculous actually. If the mod can't even put specific people on a 'safe list'?

Too bad!

Anyway, since I won't be bothering making a personal thread discussing my E30 history here's a video of some fun I had in my 318is last week:

Small list of mods:

-Bilstein B8 + Eibach suspension
-E36 rack
-S4.27 25% differential
-Single mass flywheel, trimmed
-MarkD Chip: 146hp

Actually, the admins can put your Yahoo or Gmail address into your account after you are registered. The system will take that, it just won't accept them being put in and verified.
