Seat back adjusters.
« on: September 02, 2006, 12:47:31 PM »
I got in this morning and the drivers seat back popped and went back a notch. I have the sport seats. Now it wont come back up to where it was before and the whole frame seems to be flexing a bit.
Anyone ever have this happen. Can it be repaired? How?
I guess I could get one of them chrome chain steering wheels and go low-rider.

Did I see you in Vegas on the strip?

When I had the first E36 it did just that.  Got so bad I had to put a cooler behind it to brace it in the upright position.  really didn't help the drinking and driving.  On the E36 there is a roller/spring with a couple of welds which gave way.

If it helps I have 4 complete sports seats with bad fabric.  I can strip one and send the frame to you.  The shipping should be cheap for just the frame.  Let me know.

Sorry off topic, but...
Would you be willing to sell me a set of driver-side seat tracks, if you have any extra?  Mine's missing one of the rollers and the seat rocks back&forth.

I feel D Clay's pain.  Not having proper seat position (or a moving seat) really ruins driving experience.

Mine used to do that when I first got it.  It went away after moving the seat back around a whole bunch (deliberately).  It was like something was not locking in all the way and needed to have some grease spread back into it.  Mine was slipping all the way though, not just 1 notch.  Good luck!

An Update.

Took the seat apart and found everything to be OK as far as function was concerned. Thep problem was the seat cushion frame split completely in two except for one little piece that was still together. Split at the two red lines right behind the weld for the side bolster frame.
To Katz Tsubai:  FL318is is sending me seat boittom frame. The tracks are separate and can be detached. If he sends them to me with the part I need, Iwill send them on to you. If not, you could contact him direct.

this is alittle off topic too but i have e30 m3 sport seats in my car and all the seat adjusments dont really work. i have to use alittle bit of force to get them to go where i want. i always just figured they were old. they seem pretty shaky too. i was kinda interested in putting e36 m3 seats in. does anyone know of a conversion? or does anyone know how to fix my e30 seats?

E36 seats.

There's E36 seat info on R3VLimited.com. IIRC - E36's are wider and fill the all the space between the console and the seat.

I didn't see your post.  If all you need is the seat tracks and Clay dosen't need them (I don't think he does) then you pay shipping and you can have them free.
PM when you can.
