Odometer stuck
« on: May 02, 2010, 02:46:19 PM »
Both the regular odometer and the odometer that you can press the button to reset have become stuck on my 318is.  Pressed the button one time and noticed it wasn't moving and neither has my mileage.  As nice as it is to run another 100k without the thing moving, I want to fix it.  Any particular concerns I should have before pulling apart the console for this?

its not stuck, the gears are worn out and need to be replaced, it is a very common issue with all e30s

Should be plenty of online documentation to search for concerning this.  Only source for parts (AFAIK) odometergears.com, about $60 last time I looked.

Wow.  $85.  Not sure if that's worth it anytime soon.  Thanks for the feedback.

The other option is to try and find someone selling a working odometer, but that's usually just as expensive as replacing gears.
