Went against my friend's 2001 Duramax diesel Cevy 2500. Tried to pass him from rolling 10MPH to 85MPH dead even.

I don't think you drive an m42 for it's drag strip performance.

The Duramax was silver.
Have you seen what the torque on the Duramax engine is?
