M42 engine related parts & gaskets
« on: March 26, 2010, 10:00:10 AM »
All prices OBO, shipped same day as payment is received, or the next business day, UPS ground. All gaskets are (of course) brand new. Combined shipping whenever possible=lower prices . Offers and trades welcome. I need some wheels (with or without tires) and/or seats if somewhat local. Will send pics upon request, can´t upload them here for some reason. Check my thread in R3V (Gadea). Thanks for looking.

if you log onto an online parts site, (at least pelicanparts.com does) they have listed two head gaskets for the 318i/is. One for early style and one for late style M42´s. As Gerta318is pointed out, the E30 body style changed slightly at that time ("diving boards" were replaced by plastic bumpers being the most noticeable). I wasn´t aware they changed the head gaskets, but apparently they did. I wonder if the cyl. head itself was modified at the time.

The M42 only appeared in the E30 in '91, so I was wondering what the "late style" meant in reference to the head gasket, not other parts of the car.  I was just trying to figure out where the cut-off point is for early vs. late M42s.

Blalor, looks like you´re right too. I had an M42 in my 1991 318i, and for e30 parts online, they had a head gasket listed for the ´91 318i/is (the one I ordered and now it´s for sale) and another one for all other (previous) e30 318i, so I guess I should state (1991) instead of "late style". I don´t know either the exact production date when they started fitting M42s. What were there before, M40s?

Do you happen to have E30 M42 motor mount arms?   Or a engine harness and ecu ?

I'm trying to put an E36 M42 into an E30...

Thanks,
Steve

M10 in the metal bumper cars. I think 84 and 85.
