Performance intake, now the seats!!!
« on: March 21, 2010, 08:49:37 PM »
I just bought my an alpine white 1991 318is last month and have been enjoying it immensely as an everyday driver.  This is my first BMW and GREAT car!  Over the weekend I installed a the Signature Motoring performance intake w/cone filter.  All in all this stuff was less than $160.00 and gave the car some noticeable sprightliness and a great induction sound at high RPMs.

The rear seats are good, but my next project is to redo the front seat leather.  Does anyone have any tried and true recommendations to get an upholstery kit?  Thanks!

Welcome to the group, always nice to see new members.

I was lucky to find some good condition sport seats...I've only seen the seats sent out to upholstery shops.  If I was re-doing my seats I'd delete the piping and go with double stitching like the M3 & newer BMWs have.

Go to Kevin @ CreativeOptions. He's been doing e30 seat kits for years and knows what he's doing. Tell him Don sent you.

Off-topic, but what is this Signature Motoring intake you mention? Google yielded no results other than your post.

What were you putting in Google???  Try "Signature Motoring."  The intake is just a perfromance CAI intake: Perfromance cone filter/heat shield/AFM adaptor.  It'll set you back about $160 but I recommend it.  You can search youtube for a great vid they had using an E30, that's what sold me.  You have a 91 318is too??  Very cool. Cheers.

I second the recommendation for CreativeOptions. Kevin can make you new upholstery in almost any material you want. The micro-suede is amazing; I did my fronts, all 4 head rests, the rears & the rear arm rest. The quality is top-notch. A whole kit shipped is ~$900 (less if you go with cloth, more with real leather), and that is a damn good deal considering what you get from him. The tools & hog rings are only like $30 too.

Visit HERE for a plethora of 318iS stuff and some other randomness.  Would you say I have a, plethora, of pinatas?

another vote for creative options... i have shifter and ebrake boots from him (not installed yet) and they are just as high-quality as the leather and stitching on my momo steering wheel.
