ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nooooo
While I'm versed in building very high end turbo systems using nice new parts and making tons of power I may have had a hand in a few JY systems too... I also may have been one of the few that was selling JY turbos on ebay for $400 a pop before the market got flooded
Turbos:
Ford Turbo Coupe.XR4Ti (non-intercooled) A/T: Garrett 60trim/.48A/R; M/T same but with a .63 A/R
Intercooled Turbo coupe: large IHI RHB5
Saab 900/9000: Garrett 42/.48 T3
Volvo turbo: Early: Garrett 42/.48 Late: Mistu TD04(?) w/interner bypass valve
Mazda MX6, 626 turbo, early square Subaru and Probe turbo: IHI RHB5
Audi 5000 turbo: KKK K26
Late Audi turbo (200): KKK K24
Nissan 280 and 300z: Garrett/Nissan 60/.63 T3
FWD Dodge early: 42/.48 T3 Late: Mitsu (don't remember spec off the top of my head)
Mitsubishis are well documented on other sites and the turbo span a big range. When I build my system and probably start producing systems for other people I'll be starting with a TD05 small 16g commonly sourced from JY Eclipses... except I'll be using a new one.
Other handy things to note:
Turbo Audis came with external wastegates which happen to be reliable and quite useful.
Turbo Saabs came with a plastic diverter valve which works very well for low boost engines. FWD Dodges did too, but the ports are about half as big.
There aren't many intercoolers in the JY that are of a whole lot of use... but I've seen Saab 9000 intercoolers in E30s and they're freakin huge. Some ICs, such as the FWD Dodge cars with ICs are rare and worth something to some of those Dodge fruitloops.
Late turbo coupes came with 35lb injectors but the impedance is wrong for our cars.
DSM 450cc injectors are worth almost as much in the Honda community as new aftermarket injectors
The best JY T3 you can build involves the Nissan compressor housing and center section, the .63 A/R turbine from a M/T Turbo Coupe and the wastegate flapper from a 900 turbo. Good luck putting that stuff together.
The MX6/626/Probes came with a 2-stage manual boost controller that's adjustable on the second stage.
For your 8psi, I would look at Volvo green top injectors. Surprisingly few '80s turbo motors actually made real power numbers that would require a decent fuel injector. We've already covered the Turbo Coupe, Turbo Dodges used massive fuel pressure, Japanese injectors wont fit and Saab never made any real power... which leaves the Volvos.
