HOLY SHITE, A Lot of water in my throttle body
« on: February 25, 2010, 05:12:29 PM »
WTF???

Just rebuilt the top end including a head gasket. Deleted the mess under the intake. Yesterday I was driving and the intake boot (in between the Maf and the throttle body) cracked big time. Barely made it home with a lot of dying along the way.

So today I drive to the stealer to get another boot and when I go to replace it, I find a TON of water (clear water) pooled in my throttle body. The valve cover breather that connects to the boot showed signs of milky oil. So I took off the oil filler cap (traces of white milk), then pulled the dipstick (again faint traced of milk).

Please help!!!

Don't panic yet.  Condensation can cause that.  Especially after a big vac leak like you had.  My vote is to replace the boot and run it gently for a while, then see how it goes.

Well that's reassuring.

It looks like the level is down just a bit, but it looks more like remnants of water, not full on milk.

Do you think I'll need to replace the oil right away, or just monitor it. I dont want that milk crap getting the rod bearings hot.

I think i would run a change with dyno oil (cheaper) now, and see if it builds up again.

Word! I am running fossil oil in it right now, since I planned on changing it after a hundred miles or so to flush out anything.

I'll run it for a bit and sitch to Synthetic 5-40 or so
