« on: February 24, 2010, 11:37:45 PM »
I am interested in a megasquirt setup as later down the track i would like to go to itbs. Anyways my car is currently my dd and dont want to have it off the road for to long.

So i wanted to here from you guys with megasquirt how long your car was off the road untill you were reasonably satisfyied with the tune? Also did you tune the car your self or did you have a shop do it for you?

Cheers.

Depending on which kit you get in what state of assembly, most of the work for installing MS is done at home in front of the computer. That includes learning the megamanual inside and out, building/modifying the controller and setting up wiring. Tuning is an ongoing addictive process. You'll have it running reasonably well the first day or two but as you learn to tune MS, you'll want to keep fiddling with it for ages. I know i did. The nice part about the BMW is that ALL of the wiring is already there. If you build your MS into an existing DME plug it can literally be plug and play.
