many will argue that the 89 M3 was the last real m3 bmw made. my self being in that group lol

ive got 2 4doors and 4 2 doors. all m42's with the exception of the 2002 and the 85 318i 2door. they have m10's

That opinion has a lot of validity, and I agree on a lot of levels, but from my (and mine alone) perspective I fell in love with the straight 6 engine design/characterisitcs in of all things a 1993 Jeep Wrangler, which led me to a 2003 Lexus IS300, which hooked me on rear-wheel drive, which directly led me too the finest straight 6 ever built, the mighty S54. So I kind of backed into my love of BMW's from an early affinity to the straight 6. I think BMW made their name developing the finest six cylinder cars in the world, and I consider the S54 the pinnacle of that development. The four cylinder and all its wonderful rev happy characteristics are an evolution of my love for the 8k rpm limit on my S54 and so here I am. If I ever actually get to drive an S14 I reserve the right to change my opinion

Born and raised in Boston Mass and graduated from VMI in 1995, which is not far from W. Va. Lots of reasons for me to be in either area in the future, may take you up on that...

race2win: my info looks just like that only with the 318is above the first column. I transposed the typing. okay, so the wheel info I got from another book with my owner's packet labelled "BMW Accessories 1991". It shows pictures of and provides descriptions of both the 14" weaves in all the colors (which it calls Sport wheels) and the 15" "Starspoke" alloys (also known as Style 10) the width of which is not stated. You can find pics of these by Google Image searching "BMW Style 10 wheels". You brought up the dealer installed terminology, and judging by the way they're presented in my literature I assume that all of these would fall into that catagory. hope that doesn't foil your hopes for the weaves' qualification. congrats on the LSD, by the way.

also, I want to find a '91 318is guy with an original trans. on the board who's willing to give us the numbers off of his gearbox so we can figure this out. why is my book different from yours? why is one of your columns not labeled? the difference in ratios listed is subtle but I think could be significant, for instance in an autocross situation.
