iv looked on the other forums and with no luck have i found what im looking for. all the swaps iv read have been m20 to m30. i cant find any info about the wiring to go from m42 to m30...i just want to know if anyone has done a m4x to m30.

haha. I second that. R3v has a whole subforum dedicated to m30 swaps and other less than common swaps.

Turbo it...or give her a big shot of nitrous. M42s are cheap to run...no need for an M30 to add another hundred pounds behind the front bumper.

There was a stock BMW e30 built with an M30...the South African 333i. Quick car but expensive as all heck with all the mods it needed to handle well. It also only topped out at 200hp. That's a lot of work for just 60hp. A turbo could do that for you easily & likely cost less in the long run. Or do an M50 swap...the M52B28 makes 220+hp stock.

^agree completely.

if you are into the idea of a swap, starting with an m42 car makes an m/s5X easier... it'd be more work to go to an m30, and as dave said, for little or no benefit.

im still trying to think of things, i am considering a turbo. i was just asking about different things to do, thanks tho, i dont like the m/s5x motors not "period" correct for the e30 cars. i come from a 02 background so i like that stuff. iv read about turboing the m42 and it is a good idea but what about for a daily?

M52B28 FTMFW!!!!!!! its a VERY good motor to drop into an E30 and can support more boost than almost any other M/S 50/52 motors unless you already have the M30 then just look for a wiring diagram for the M42 and the M30 and see what pins need to be moved!!
