WTF! Damn Fuel pump relay again!
« on: February 10, 2010, 07:14:04 PM »
Ok. 2 weeks ago I had an issue where the fuel pump stopped working while driving home for lunch. Same thing happend today. Didn't make it home though. I had to get towed. F!!@#@!!$#% K. I spent 9  bucks a pc. on 2relays from Bav auto because the local german parts dealer wanted 135 for one. ? So replaced the DME and Fuel pump relay.

I kept one of the used ones and replaced the relay when I got the car home. Didn't work. I don't have any fuel pump sound at all. I must have a short. I can't think of anything else. I have had my car for over 12 years and I have not had any trouble like this in over 9 years. I love my baby, but am at the point of selling her to buy a Toyota. Christ! even they have recalls to fix there shit.

Well I will have my decision in the morning. I have to sleep on it. I plan to sell her through GrassRoots Motorsports Magazine. At least there someone with some racing ideas can have her and run her out a lot like I have for the past 12 years.

Any feedback will be appreciated. Thank you in advance, Tony. :(

im dealing with the same problem.... u can bypass the fuel relay to see if ur pump is still working. Your CPS (crank position sensor) has got bad. and something in those lines ... best way to bypass the relay is to get either a fuse and connect it likehttp://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showpost.php?p=915864&postcount=17
. 2) check the ohms on the sensor. i have a bad cps im going to have to buy a new one=[

How did you come up with the CPS going bad? And doesn't the pump run and different speeds depending on how you accelerate and decelerate?

your cps sends a signal to the dme , the dme sends a signal to the relay to turn on the pump.. check the cps, did u look at the link i postd?

Just did. But it only shows the fuse pics, not how you came about finding out it was the CPS.

Ok. New relay is in and I put a multimeter on the fuel pump side and got nothing. Actually it read 0.12  I can't figure it out. I jump the relay points # 86 and #30 and got 12.12 volts to the pump. Still didn't turn the pump though. I even put 2 leads from the battery to get the pump to spin this didn't do nothing either. I am uncertain that its the CPS like you suggested. I am more to believe its the fuel pump it self. WHat do you think?

If you put direct 12 volt power to the pump and it didn't turn on then the pump is toast.
How many miles on your car? I had around 180,000 when my pump went out.
