Anyone done an E36 serpentine belt setup?

Would all the accessories even bolt up to the E30 M42? Would it be worth it at all? Obviously the benefit is quieter accessories and the ability to run the DASC kit, but what exactly would one need to pull this off?

I know it's been seven years since the last post, but I'm wondering if in that time someone has retrofitted an e36 M42 serpentine belt setup to an e30 m42. Looking for some guidance as I prepare to install a DASC on my '91 e30 318i. I'm told the DASC was originally on an '92 e36.

i hope someone chimes in here. i also want to sc my 91 318is keeping ac and power steering and such. a few guys have mentioned in other posts that they have similar setups. i am very interested as either the dasc kit pops up on ebay from time to time and also gkd sportscars now as a kit as well. please someone help me! i need to go faster.

I have a '95 motor sitting in my yard if anyone wants closeups or part numbers.  Once my '91 M42 gives up the ghost I'll be swapping this one in.  I'll post pics, don't worry.

I'd suspect the only thing that wouldn't fit in an E30 (besides the rear sump oil pan) is the DISA intake.  It's substantially bigger - I was a bit surprised by that.

Any chance you can see if the pullys switch over and line up

They are vaguely in the same area.  A/C looks pretty similar (bolted to the block but with a different bracket for the auto tensioner).  The other side is a lot different, with two tensioners on either side of the alternator.

I'd have to pull the splash guard off my car to be sure everything mounted up, but it looks to me like a direct swap.  The block doesn't apprear to be different in any way.  I'm not sure if the early cam chain case is the same as the later one though.

The oil dipstick may be a problem

I've just fitted a 95 M42 into my E30 with A/c and P/s. The dipstick was a problem, so I cut approx 30mm off the bottom and fitted towards the front of the car. It's position is just in front of the top radiator hose. To stop it moving around fabricate a bracket to the head. It looks odd but it works.

I'd suppose the dipstick is the problem with their supercharger bracket; thanks for the tip, Steve! Can you post a pic if you get a chance?

Sorry for the picture quality. I'm still on with the install, the brackets are just some bits I found in my tool box. There is approx 6mm gap between the dipstick and the top hose.
