First bmw. need advice

I just bought a 91 318is for 300 bucks. I think it was a steal because besides a dent in the hood the body is mint. Anyways the guy said it had motor trouble so I did a compression test. two cylinders had 0psi, 1 had 25psi, and the other was ok with 251psi.  I took the head off and sure enough it had bent valves. I was just wondering if anyone knew a good website to get parts and also I was planning on putting a turbo on it.  Will the stock internals handle a turbo? I only want 8 to 12 pounds of boost. Any other advise would be helpful. Thanks!

There are several good write ups for turbo builds.  If I recall, a stock motor could take a mild turbo pretty well.  It sounds like you'll be needing to put a head on anyways, so why not go the extra and build up the bottom end while you're at it.  Its not much more work to pull the motor out.  Then you could have the option to bump up the PSI later if you wanted more power.

Also, if you have bent valves, are your pistons and timing chain assembly ok?

The engine looks like it might of been recently rebuilt.  All the gaskets looked new and their were no ring marks on the cylinder walls.  The pistons looked ok and they held gas so the rings are good.  It definitely jumped time though.  The chain guide on the left was shattered though and you can see where the chain was hitting it.  The cams were in time so it must of jumped time at the crank. The chain seemed really tight so I don't see how it could of jumped time but it did.  Originally I thought I was going to have to rebuild the engine (I may still have to)but money is tight so if I don't have to I won't.  I'll get pics when I get a hold of a camera:D
