Odyssey batteries install
« on: January 27, 2010, 08:08:52 PM »
I put a small Odyssey battery in my 91 318is a few months back. It is something like 15 pounds and less than half the size of a standard battery.

So far so good. I've started the car on a couple of days with temps in the mid 20's, about as cold as we need to worry about here. It does not handle standby current draw well, it was dead after sitting for 8 days.

The battery is sealed and will work in any orientation, in the original position it should reduce the corrosion that happens there. It should also be possible to move the battery. I'm thinking about under the rear seat but gasoline and batteries probably aren't a good idea.

Quite a bit more expensive than a standard battery but the guarantee is about twice a standard battery. If that is reflected in the life of the battery the price would be about the same.
