1991 318ic

No pictures, but the price sounds right if the top isn't toast. Hopefully this lady will call me back later today. It's only 8am here. So maybe she is sleeping or working.

Hasn't been posted long, you might want to wait. Could miss the deal though. It's a gamble.

Why would I want to wait?

I'd really love to have a vert 318 5spd.

We currently have a 91 318i and 91 318is. The vert would complete the trifecta.

If the top is toast, i won't even consider the car though. I do have a blue 91 318is parts car though. I'm using it to fix our "is". So if the parts the vert needs are not dedicated to the good "is" we have I can get it fixed up cheap.

Yeah, the top is the deal breaker on that car. I considered a 325ic last year, but with a top going for $500 & up...and the unique interior & body panels...that can really add up fast.

Well the lady just called me. She said the top is 2-3 years old and so is the interior. Lucky for me, we have two different verts in the boneyard here, just in case. I'm going to look at it today.

I have just been informed that we can get either this vert, or the 98 M3/4 5spd slick top Dakar......

Okay. So I went and looked at the car. It was actually in damn good shape for that price. It had a one inch tear in the top, front cover leak, oil filter housing leak and needed shocks and struts. All relatively easy repairs. Less than 1K for everything. However (i'm not religious) but these were nice christian people. The lady had been laid off and had to sell one of her cars. The other being an '03 6cyl Mustang that she owed about 6K on.

At this point, knowing their situation, I said to them, sell the stang and get rid of the payments. With a little work, the vert will be worth much more. Was worth at least 3K as it was. So rather than rip them off, she'll sell the stang and lose the payments, and I have earned myself another customer.

I'd like to have it, but i'm not going to kick somebody when they are down. I know what it's like to have been laid off.

You'll feel better in the morning. Wish I could smack you with some karma, like other forums allow me to do...

I hope they dump the 'stang but I'd suspect they won't. I'd bet you'll see that ad up for a while. Give them a month, then go buy it if they still have messed up priorities...supply & demand is a merciless equation. I had a neighbor that was unexpectedly widowed. She chose to sell a paid-off five year old Acura 3.2 with 27k miles to keep her lease on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I turned down her too-low price and gave her the same advice you did. Crazy people.
