Yeah that's def. one option... right now I need to get the body sorted out, which is going to take friggin forever, given my utter noobitude with anything body related.

I tried the buffer last night and it didn't go so well...

So yeah, one option might be: swap my E30 M42 drivetrain over into the 2002 and put an E36 M42/44 with the DASC stuff in the E30.

There's a lot of debate re: the M42 swap in the 2002 world. Basically there's one guy who did it and had a heck of a time, and the internet consensus pretty much starts there.

The guy I bought the shell from did an M42 swap into another 2002, but it wasn't like a real comprehensive swap, more like a "fab some quick motor mounts" deal.

the engine is doing just fine, thanks... I like the tires a lot, at least for the price... I need to tune the engine still, waiting to find / borrow an air fuel meter / logger thing

Your car was my inspiration towards getting my Diamondschwartz 318is. I don't even remember where I found a picture of your car last year, but it inspired me. I now own one as well, and it sounds like I need to do about as much work to it as you did to yours. I may be in contact with you later with some questions once I start ripping my car apart.
