I am looking to build my e36 up sometime in the next few months, and hopefully before summer. I have most of the parts now but I am in need of some information.
1)I have looked throught the forums but I want to re-assure a good place to take the oil from for the turbo. I have favored the idea of tapping into the oil pressure switch but want to know any other ideas.
2)What should be done about the fuel pump? I am only looking to run stock engine with the turbo and run around 5-10 psi. Do i need to up the fuel pump or can we get we get away with it?
3)I get an impression that with a stock engine the stock computer may be ok. What options are out there besides megasquirt to take care of fuel, spark, and I would like to get rid of any topspeed limiter.
4)I belive I have seen an extension wire to be able to move the vaf sensor to the opposite and bottom side of te engine as the turbo will be bottom mount. If not i guess i will have to hard wire

1. I'm also thinking of taking it from the oil pressure switch; I can't really think of a better spot.
2. If the stock pump and filter are good, you should be able to get away with it. If not, the 255lph Walbro inline 'helper' pumps seem to be the common way to go.
3. If you really want the stock ECU, but you want tuning, check out the Miller performance W.A.R. chip. It doesn't allow on the fly tuning though. I'm going to guess that you will have all manner of tuning issues if you don't go with a standalone or piggyback of somesort, but I may be wrong. I'm going with Megasquirt, personally.

i found an excelent and even better way of getting oil from the filter to the turbo and oil cooler! some one mentioned it and i'm really surprised more people aren't using it. there is an oil cooler adapter that replaces the aluminum oil cap on this site:

I am led to believe the IE cap won't fit on the M42 oil filter housing for some reason. Besides the fact I am using a completly different oil filter housing (remote). I will be putting a tee piece fitting where the pressure switch goes and taking my turbo feed from there.

Check out Danny's Budget Turbo Build thread. He was running the standard ecu, with bigger injectors and a RRFPR for quite a while before changing out to a MegaSquirt.

You really need to get some tunability though as without it you can't change the ignition timing and this is the biggest issue from where I see it. You could get a custom made chip from any of the common tuners, or as mentioned the WAR chip (and similar products).

Me I'm going a full blown standalone, DTA S60 Pro, all business no fuss. If you are interested in the MegaSquirt option. tglaze on these forums, was making plug and play MegaSquirts up for people. I herd ~$600 for a PnP ECU with a decent basemap.

If your dead keen on the standard ecu, just cut and extend the wires for the AFM.

yea i called the company to check and unfortunately it doesn't fit cause some stuff doesnt line up. but they do have a chip for our cars! the programable W.A.R. chip is sold there for $350 so that is a must for me anyways.
