Hi everyone,

I live in Victoria, BC. and I just recently bought myself a brilliant red 1991 318is. I was looking at 325is but all the cars I looked at were beaten or the owner was lying about most of the things that were done to the car. I am very happy with my purchase because after looking through this forum I realized that the previous owner was doing many of the things that are mentioned in this forum.

The interior is mint except for a few rips in the seats that don't bother me at all. The paint is in amazing condition with not a sign of rust anywhere. She has Bilstein suspension and a strut bar in the front. She also has a limited slip diff and abs which I didn't know these cars had.

After thinking about what I wanted to do with this car I decided that I will be going for serious performance. I am looking to either bore it out or add a stroker kit. I will probably rebuild the engine from the ground up. Once that is done, I'm thinking forced induction. Most probably turbo. There is an exhaust leak at the cat so I will take it out and make it straight pipe with a high flow muffler, probably double tip.

I would love some advice from those who have gone the same route.

thanks :) I plan to make it look, drive, and feel much better but I am just sorting out how much I need and whether my mechanic roommate would help me with some of the work. And yes I am Turkish. Currently living in Canada as a student and will probably be here for a few more years. I love how cheap cars are here compared to what they cost back home. I just wish labour wasn't so expensive :P

What about yourself? You seem Turkish too :)

PS: Found an exhaust leak at the muffler and the cat is the wrong size so it doesn't fit quite right. Thinking of deleting the cat and just putting a straight pipe. I'll leave the resonator on but ill be getting a new muffler soon. Any suggestions? Since I'm considering going Turbo, I don't want to spend huge amounts of money on a muffler as I might change the entire exhaust system. So I was thinking of a cheap and good sounding solution :) Does anyone have any suggestions?

yes I'm Turkish. I know labour is expensive here. ask your mechanic friend for some help :)

For the suspension go with Bilstein Sports and H&R Race.

Bilsteins were already installed by the previous owner just recently. There is also a strut bar in the front. I'll take a picture of the engine bay and post it up.

Exhaust leak was fixed. Was caused by the cats heat shield. Welded it back and now its fine. Brakes have a slight lip on them so I might change the rotors soon.
