Clutch kit/flywheel

Hey all,

Tonight I was drag racing a friend of mine, I had a perfect launch and got at least half a car length right off the line. However when I shifted to second I noticed the revs barely moved and the car didn't lurch forward like normal. Then the same for third, so I let off only to find that the clutch was slipping all through second and third :D

Right now I'm looking at the sachs clutch kit from BMP design, anyone have any expeirence with these. And also I figured while I'm getting the clutch kit I might as well order the lightened flywheel, although I'm kind of wonder what kind of performance increase this will give me?

I have the metric mechanic lightened steel flywheel, with the 228mm sachs sport clutch; I really like it, it's an excellent value...

It's about half the weight of the stock dual mass flywheel, and not only increases power to the wheels (less drivetrain loss) but also helps you get up into the M42's sweet spot a lot faster.

I think it's probably the fourth best mod for an m42 (chip, clutch stop + short shift kit, suspension, flywheel) and if you are changing you clutch anyway it's a must have.

while yer down there, I highly recommend a new slave cylinder also.

I've also got an M20 clutch/flywheel conversion kit for sale in the "For Sale" section of this site.  The M20 flywheel is 16-17lbs vs the stock M42 29 lbs.  A noticable improvement... and going to be your least expensive alternative at $400.

I have the sach's sports clutch kit in my car (unless my mechanic back then ripped me off) and I like it. Definately an improvement over my stock. But I got this like 3 or 4 yrs ago. Wish I did the fly wheel along with it but back then, my clutch broke and i was low on funds.
