Dasc with cams and chip?
« on: December 26, 2009, 03:01:07 PM »
first off...would it totally screw things up to throw some meatier cams onto the m42 with a Dasc?  this would be on stock ecm etc no standalone.

also has anyone out there made a boost based chip for the m42   like they have for the m44  to better tune for boost?

I bought a supercharger for my car and a bunch of tuning equipment (tunerpro, ostrich 2.0 emulator, zeitronics data logger) and planned to make a chip myself, but i got scammed on the supercharger

There is no chip for the e36 M42 ECU let alone the e30 ECU.

Higher lift cams would be good but i think increasing the duration would hurt performance as you would be forcing the air in the intake valves and out the exhaust valves.

ireland engineering sells a programmable chip called 'WAR' for 95 and older bimmers.
i looked into it a while back, i remember it could work for e30 m42s.

Yeah, and its marketed by Miller performance iirc.

NickG sells a few different stages of tuning for the OBDII M44 DASC setup, so you might be able to contact him (I think over on 318ti.org) and get some info.
