So there are some pretty solid limits as to what the M42/M44 engine can handle, Based on the crank and block as the building blocks(Ignoring the transmission and rear end and chassis for now.). These limits are pretty easy to reach with a single turbo, multi is just going to take more room add weight and not really add any usable power, the turbo+mechanical blower is (IMHO) being done for cool factor more than need by VW. They occasionally zip off into the weeds getting caught up in the "Lookie what we can do" mind set... (Corrado, good car overall but a maintenance pig) Unless its like the Mazda Millenia engine with the blower because its really a Miller cycle engine?
