Author Topic: Vacuum hose sizes? (Read 3967 times)

I have been reading all of the "cold idle, poor fuel mileage, rough running" threads for a while hoping to find a cure for my cars problem. I have changed the normal maintenance items (spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, ect) and still have cold idle issues and bad fuel mileage.

Before I go any further I would like to change ALL of my vacuum hoses when I clean my ICV.

I have searched a couple different forums and several online oem parts breakdowns but have not found a complete list of the sizes of vac hoses needed to completely refresh my engine.

I know its a shot in the dark but I was hoping someone here has already done it and kept a list of the sizes needed.

My plan is to clean my ICV, replace my intake bellow and replace ALL vac hoses on the next attempt to fix my problem. Probably replace the coolant sensor while Im there too.

why dont you just buy the hoses direct? how did you plan on doing the retarded 4 way hose underneath the intake?

I am buying the BMW specific vac hoses like the ones at the ICV. I was talking about the other standard vac hoses, like the one that goes to the FPR and others that I may not be aware of. I went thru the list on RealOEM and Pelican and selected every hose I could find...

I dont want to tear everything apart to find that I missed a couple odd hoses that are not listed...

My goal is to get them all while I am there...

Im not a cheap ass, I'll do what needs to be done to completely refresh my vac system, I was hoping someone had been thru this and could give me a heads up. Not a big deal, I will order everything I can find and go from there.

I wasnt implying you were a cheap ass. I was just curious as if you were going to rig something better than what's actually there.

I'm in the same exact spot as you and actually have my cart almost ready for check out for this hose refresh.

Do you think you can share everything you're replacing? I don't even know if I have everything or not.

Ha Ha, no problem. I simply wanted everyone to know I dont just hack stuff together. Im actually an aircraft mechanic and take pride in all of my work whether its an aircraft, my car or my bike. I want my car fixed correctly.

And yes I will absolutely share my findings and parts needed. It wont be until after the new year though. this weekend Im leaving for 2 weeks of training in CA, then its Christmas. I have 2 kids. So unfortunately my car is going to have to wait.

I did read that post, thanks. Its a huge help. I live in central PA so I think I will leave the heater in. Its nasty here about 5 months out of the year. To be honest I havent done my homework on deleting the heater plate but I assume it a plus in colder climates.?.

I live in S.E PA so the winter climate here isn't that great either, but I have removed my heater plates and have had no problems with the throttle sticking. This car isn't my daily driver but I will take it out in the cold from time to time.

That being said, deleting the heater plates is one of the best things I've done to my car since I bought it. It gives you a chance to clean up the manifolds and replace a lot of parts that are on their last leg.

There's a lot of discussion about deleting the heater plate in that thread. Most people haven't had any problems what so over. If I recall correctly it helped with emissions in the states more than dealing with cold temps. But, read the thread for details.
