Hi all, my name is Andy, I'm 27 and live in Bristol in England. I've owned my E30 for about a year now, it's a 1990 318is and has a few mods.
  • M44 1.9 conversion with M42 head
  • Piper regrind cams
  • E30zone chip (7k5 redline :D)
  • Custom stainless 2.25 exhaust with front box delete
  • K&N panel filter in drilled airbox
  • Powerflex M3 offset WB bushes
  • Bilstein B12 kit
  • All bushes replaced 2 years ago
  • Small case 4.1 LSD (from the US)
  • Z3 quick rack
  • Z3 short shift
  • 6000k HID conversion
  • 365mm MX5 Momo steering wheel and boss (AC Scnitzer centre badge)

There's more than likely a few things I've missed. The car is really tidy apart from a little damage on the front wing from the previous owner, the interior is in great shape and the shell is solid.

The car was bought as a daily driver and because I've always wanted one. My other car is a 1994 Audi S2 coupe, it's slightly modified too and produces 300bhp and 330ftlbs ;)

hey andy! Seeing as you've put up no pics, here's one or two from the ring:

The 1.9 on the left, the 2.1 one from the right

2.1 in the middle, 1.9 on the right!

This car has plenty of history and attachment for me, not only because it's the twin of mine, but because I fitted its engine, have been in it crashing on the nurburgring and road tripped it to wales! A special car!

You'll have to have a drive with teh B12 kit, Z3 rack and offset front bushes, it's so much better than before, oh, and the 7k5 redline sounds great with the drileld airbox :)

Timmy, you need to update your sig :p

lol you're gonna kill that lovely engine si and i built aren't you?!
Lol yeah yeah, I've driven the inverted billies and offset powerflexes in Dan's except he had 16x7.5" hartges, eibach ARBs and a few other toys yours doesn't. Drove pretty well. And of course been around the 'ring in Tom's car with your suspension and bushes/diff etc!
Sig updated :) Email coming your way too, you'll like this!

It's the 2.1 lie that's wrong mate :p

That engine is strong as an ox, Pete will look after it as a track toy soon :)

Here's the RR printout from my car, it's no longer on MS but has an evolution chip giving a further 500rpm, should be easily the same as the MS as it was never quite right.

lol, how's that a lie? i refuse to change my sig to
1.9 170bhp ish until 2 wks time when its back to 2.1 200bhp 318is. I don't think anyone cares :) Although actually I quite like that.

Sal's chip = same as megasquirt - behave. I think the AFRs were near perfect on the MS. We should get AFRs off Sal's chip, the old chip I had wasn't any richer iirc, you might be costing yourself a few hp there.

Good girl, it's the 3 months of lying that' I'm offended by  Can you add luxo-barge to 'E46 330ci daily' please...

Power is going up nicely at the end so a further 500rpm and the drilled airbox will have helped. That must have been the only 5 mins that MS ran properly on that car :p

Andy, just noticed on 18th may in Argentina they have a public holiday set aside to help you out:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_holidays_in_Argentina
:)
On a more serious note, don't think extra rpm will help the peak power output of yours! And you don't have an extra 500rpm over megasquirt, it had either none (if I built the map from scratch) or 7,3k (if it was based on mine, can't remember what i did when i built si's). So there :)
Fwiw on standard head, inlet and those cams, you're not going to get peak power above 6,5k. You know that! Look at the shape of the curves you posted and you can see that it's looking really healthy on MS and that fuelling perfectly it's peaking at 6,5k ish.  And "drilled airbox will have helped" - no it won't have, you know that as well as I do!
I'm really impressed at how well it went with megasquirt on, and the power in general that it makes for its spec is well impressive. A solid 155bhp on motronic and 160bhp on squirt is pretty good going for tame cams and 1.9 being the only mods. If I had money to burn I wouldn't mind r/r'ing the 1.9 in mine at the mo - with the higher CR, wilder cams, flowed head, light fly, ported TB etc it would be interesting to see what it does. It certainly seems to go rpetty well at the top, if a bit crap lower down. Sadly it'll come out this wknd though!

LOL, getting a little excited Timmy :) Another 200rpm then, still sounds great above 7k so that's a 66% increase in post 7k grin factor :D

Ignoring the differences in opinion, it runs nicely and that's what matters, I'd be suprised if the power wasn't somewhere inbetween the two graphs posted. The atmospheric conditions on the day were poor, low pressure and reasonably high temperature, with some nice winter air and high pressure it would be very strong indeed, remember the silver Golf made 141+ in the frost and 138 was the best it made in higher temperatures. Obviously it's all corrected but even so, it makes a little difference.

The drilled airbox on the S2 has helped with breathing quite a bit up top, the same as an RS2 airbox would as it has a enlarged inlet trumpet, no reason for it not to help on the IS, it's got a good feed of cold air and reduces the pressure drop in the airbox a little, fractions all add up... hence why the S2 is so strong compared to other examples that are the same spec.

None of it matters anyway, as long as the S2 has 300+ then that's the important thing :)

I tried to catch it on video with Tom driving but it really didn't do it justice. We can put the drilled 'box on the 2.1 when it's in :D
