I'm addressing some minor paintwork issues on my E30 1990 318is.
Purchased some touch-up spray entitled "BMW Alpine White" from the local Halfords (also known as "Halfarsed" in the UK).

I prepared a section of the drivers side wing for a test spray.
What came out was about as close to my car's colour as a thing that's not very close at all. Not only that, but the liquid seemed more like semi skimmed milk (yes I did shake the can vigorously before applying). It began to run almost as soon as it hit the metal. It seems to be even runnier than water.

Anyway, in my frustration the Halfarsed tin got drop-kicked out of my garage and in to a neighbours garden.

The internet must have the answer so I searched for "BMW Alpine White". It seems that there are various shades and versions of this. Alpine I, II & III.
One of these must be the colour on my car.
Does anyone know definitively which one it is?

I've heard people mention paintscratch.com before as a resource for touch-up paint. I ordered a little touch-up pen from them and it seemed to match pretty well. I have no experience with sprays, however. Might be kind of expensive for you to order from though since they are here in the US.

My car (91 E30 318is) is Alpine II, so I would guess yours would be too, although it might be different, being a Euro model. There should be a sticker under the hood that says something like "BMW-Alpinewie� II" that would confirm it.

Where did you use the spray paint etc,,...inside, outside and was it cold outside?

Cheers. Figured out that it's Alpine II. Sourced another can of spray and it seems to match pretty well now.
It was fairly cold when I applied the paint from the original can, but I tried a test in room temperature and honestly it was so runny, even a fine coat would run on a relatively flat surface.
New tin seems to be doing the job, so happy now.

I painted my "is" spoiler with this and i was pleased with the results. I also ordered the clear coat from them as well. Just make sure you take your time with the prep work - good luck

I painted my IS spoiler with paintscratch.com spray cans, and it was a dead-on match.
