Tranny Removal?
« on: January 11, 2009, 03:06:11 PM »
Hi,

Is there a tranny removal DIY somewhere on this forum?

I want to drop my tranny but want to look at the procedure before I do it in case there's something that I might get hung up on without the right tool, etc.

Thanks.

look under the how to section. really the only special tool you will need is a set of inverted torx sockets, and alot of patience went trying to pull the input shaft out of the clutch disc.

What about the bolts holding the tranny onto the block?  How hard are they to get to?

I like to pull my engine and tranny at the same time because I can do it faster then trying to pull the tranny out the bottom, but I have done several in the car and I used a long extension and a swivel, the extension that I use is 36" long 3/8 drive but I suppose you can use a shorter one.
