Anybody know the size of the NPT at the oil presure switch for the m42?

What cold spark plugs should I run in the m42 while under boost? Part #?

It's a metric fitting, M12x1,5mm. The oil sensor is the same between 4 and 6 cyls BMW, so a fitting for a 6 cyl will have the same thread.

For plugs you could try NGK (get heat range 7-8) or Denso (IK22) or even Bosch. Brisk (is also good but is on the expensive side. Another brand thats popular and quite good is volker.

im also having mine done so i can get the t-piece sorted is there no other place on the engine you can tap into to get oil pressure to the turbo?:confused:

i was thinkin of drilling a hole on the side of the block where the oil gallery runs so that the pipe is shorter to the turbo:rolleyes:

am i being crazy ??:eek:

I have decided that Im just going to 1/8 tap the filter housing cap and go from there... it will be unfiltered but I don't see it being a hudge problem because if you have big chunks of anything in your motor you have a major problem anyway

you right if you have big chunks of anything in your engine you have bigger problems than infiltered oil:D

i have been wondering the best oil feed tap spot too. might tryin tap the filter housing, but i wanted to leave that be so i could tap into it for an oil cooler later on.

this is what you will need if you want to tap into lower housing at the presure switch... I tryed every shop in ottawa that sells fitings and nobody could pull one up for me

just take a banjo bolt and the fitting thats the proper thread for the hole where the oil pressure switch goes drill a hole in the top of the bolt and tap it for the oil pressure switch go to a place that makes power steering line and that stuff get them to put the banjo fitting on the hose and what ever other fittings you need and your set. this is what i did it looks pretty clean and works well.

when I was gathering parts I was in the same pboat, because all parts bought from USA had imperial threads and here we use only metric, so I bought another order of fittings from USA

pricey but it works
