H&R springs

H&R spring
Hi, i was wondering if any H&R spring owners can help me identify this spring, its a red color H&R spring with (BMW 3/1 VA) wording.pls help

Why are you changing them?

if i had to guess......

IE's are stiffer, offer a lower stance, and overall better performance






btw, when you're done w/ those H&R's, i'll be glad to take them off your hands

heheh thats just what i want to hear
they are mint... they got maybe 4,000 KM... not miles... KM im all canadian and such
but yeah... the plan is so that 2 in the front and 1.5 in the rear will fix that front to rear fender gapping that i dont like to see... cause im planning on getting a set of CR7's so i want to have a good clean pretty even gapping
and i mean they are too expensive so y not

thanks....so i guess these are 50404's for the 318is....but just curious,how do we differentiate the 50404's and the 50406?is there a indication on the springs??

What about the ride for a daily driver with the IE's.

Its a aggressive street setup. I have it on my 325 and love the way it handles.  It rides fine on the street as well.  The only problem is I wish the front was a tad lower.
I like a 60/40 drop.  The IEs need to go an inch higher in the back and an inch lower in the front for a perfect raked stance. but as they are they work well and give you great oil pan clearence up front(a big plus since im going M50)
KW makes a 60/40 kit but there too soft for my liking.  A 60/40 with bekkers spring hats up front is the perfect setup for the "euro stretch" look.

If you're gonna get rear shock mounts, get better ones than those. IE or GC for example.

i did
those where just the front mounts... i needed something to tie me over till adjust camber plates etc
i got the turner high performance aluminum/rubber mounts

the ones on the far right... it came as a package for pretty cheap so thats y i got just the standard front mounts

to me, they look like #29964 springs... I know H&R changes their colors etc but the later style springs have the number eg: 50404 etc...

(I have the #29964 springs, they work great)

I had the 3/1 but they are too stiff and too low at the front. On track I found the car wandering a lot/difficult to balance and on the street the front regularily bottomed out. Additionally, I damaged the wing when I spun on track on full opposite lock. The wheel was driven in the the top of the wheel arch when a crossed a kerb :mad: . I have now changed to 5/1 and am very satisfied.

The 5/1 have an extra coil up front and as a result lowers the car about 40mm. The 3/1 dropped the front about 60mm.
