okay so i am a complete idiot and in the proccess of doing the coil over plug conversion i removed without tagging what plug went to which cylinder etc and now have no idea. i could really use some pics of the original set up in the harnes and so on please help a brother out i am in desperate needdddddd!

You can tell them by the different color wire in each. If I'm reading the wiring diagram right, the e36 harness colors on pin 1 of each connector are 1 - white, 2 - red, 3 - yellow, 4 - blue. The other wires will be brown and green.

Make sure you put them 1-2-3-4 from the radiator to the firewall, matching the cylinder numbers. You'd be surprised how many people plug them in according to firing order.

so the firing order of 1342 means nothing? that s what i have found on many forums so far. but i will check the number one pin on each, the wires however are all the same color for all leads green black and brown. i will try as you say and post tommorw of what i hope is success!

The firing order is whatever whatever rhe sequence is, but that does not change where the plug wires go. 1, 2, 3, 4 from the front.

The firing order is critical. But the coil, plugs and wires must all match 1-2-3-4 from radiator to firewall. This makes sure they fire correctly...1-3-4-2. Otherwise you'll get one cylinder firing correctly.

I was trying to figure this one out for another post...unfortunately the colors are all the same on the e30, but if you pull the DME connector off, you can do a continuity test to figure out the correct wires.

According to this thread, pin 25 is coil 1; 52 is coil 2; 24 is coil 3 and 51 is coil 4. I didn't have a picture of the connector but the pins should be labeled.

i would like to thank you desk top dave for the help i have solved the wiring problem and now must repair leaky vacum line..... car is now going to be back on the road me so happy me want to cry!!!!:cool:
