I've found the same on my spare IS. You will find a small and round heater plate under the throttle body. Much easier to work on then on the larger studs!

ok..... pics of my cylinderhead, fully ported and newly machined valveseats.. a s42-light!:D
the head is ported by hand, so no machines are used.. what works on the "tic-tac"M3 group-n from 1991 will also work for my car..
