i am putting an m20 flywheel in, and was just curious as to if i could use the stock bearing, or even a 325 bearing, or is the 323 bearing the only one that will work?

Hey can you put an M20 flywheel on an m42 motor. So if you can what your saying is that i can save money by acquiring a m20 flywheel from the junk yard and purchasing a clutch upgrade and installing them. So I don't have to spend @ 500 for a 10lb. aluminum fly from a performance company. Right?

IIRC, you use a M20 clutch kit on the M20 flywheel. That's what Metric Mechanic uses on their M20 conversion flywheel.

thanks for the info. i found out that all late model e30s use the same TO bearing, which makes it a lot easier since i just replaced mine. i just need the 325 starter or gear and i will be done.

You could just put the M42 ring on it. With a slight amount of machining. Probably work out the same $$.

easier to go to pick n pull and get a starter for $20. or just swap the pinion gear on the starter.
