Basicly i have a lot of rust and what not at the bottom of my tank(car has been sitting for about a year) Whats the best way to get rid of as much as possible( Its cloged 2 fuel filters already) I dont want this stuff hitting my injectors.

Drop the tank, open the tank and empty the junk out.

drop the tank... that easy? i thought you needed to remove the subframe to do that?!

Not sure, but I do know the best way is not always the easiest way.

There's an allen plug on the passenger side of the fuel tank for this purpose. Use a straight allen on a ratchet wrench, as I've broken the L-style of allen keys in my hand several times doing this same exact task.

***Disconnect the battery terminal before doing any of this.

no, you don't have to pull the subframe, but you do have to pull out the driveshaft and the exhaust.

could you also remove the fuel pump assembly, drain the tank and once the interior of the tank has dried out thoroughly, use a shop vac to vacuum up all of the accumulated debris within the tank? Seems that would be easier to do (if you can get the shop va hose in there enough to do it)...

there is a fuel line that runs across the bottom of the tanks, because its 2 big reservoirs on either side of the driveshaft. you could just unbolt that and drain the tank from there.

dropping the tank is a huge pain in the ass.
