By the time I figure the time to put the car on a trailer and take it to a fabricator, plus the delay because I could not start that step until the engine is back together and reinstalled it didn't seem like a good use of my time to "save" $100-$200. Then of couse, I'm having it fabricated in SoCal where the best quote I received from reputable fabricators was closer to 2X that price.
I understand it's not really fair to compare my dedicated racing project with those of you working on the smallest possible budget and your daily driver. It's not that I have an unlimited budget but with the Tec3, new Garrett turbo, Tial wastegate & BOV, engine internals, Racepaq G2X, etc. and my desire to get it running sooner rather than later, this was the best course for me.
YMMV.
