Did you fix the hoses under the intake manifold yet? I bet you have a lot of vac leaks if not.

Engine management / Megasquirt on a m42
« on: December 05, 2010, 01:30:34 PM »
I've megasquirted 2 mercedes so far, one with MS1 and one with MS2. For the M42 I would use a V3 board with MS2 daughter board. It will work with all the hardware you already have on the car such as the crank/cam sensors, temp sensors, coil on plug ignition and sequential fuel injection. The main advantages of MS3 is that it can do sequential fuel injection for up to 8 cyls and it has an SD card slot. Otherwise both MS2 and MS3 have 2 16x16 fuel tables, same processor speed, etc.

Scroll down.

these injectors,only have a m44 engine,in m42 normal injectors.
As previously mentioned, they were also installed in 94+ M42s depending on which market you were in.

They work on the E30 M42 but the E36 94+ has the stupid air shroud injectors.

So after calling about 10 local auto part stores in my area, not one of them carries or can order 15/32" or 19/32" vacuum hose. I have been browsing google for about an hour and have not been able to find any 19/32" VACUUM hose..

Anyone know where to get this stuff online or know an alternative?

You don't need those specific diameters. Just get the closest thing they have and squeeze the crap out of it. 3/8" and 1/2" hose are pretty damn common. Its rubber. It bends, it stretches, it punshes, it pleasures... ;)

Okay, sorry if this has been covered, but I see some confusing info. In the OP, the second picture says "One vacuum hose from the valve cover to the throttle body". However, the picture has red circles at the valve cover and the intake elbow. What's right?

You are correct. The valve cover connects to the intake elbow. You don't want to put your valve cover under vacuum from the TB. I will correct it.

I'm pretty sure all E36 cars had the built in reservoir. The E30/M42 was the first car they used it on as far as I know.
