For Sale / FS: 1991 318is / Manual / Artic Silver / 127k / San Diego
« on: June 21, 2020, 10:01:38 AM »
It's time to let this one go. Too many kids, too little time.

This car is mostly stock with the exception of a few upgrades. I purchased it in January 2007 with 103k on the odometer and it now sits at an incredibly low-for-it’s age 127,XXX. It’s always been maintained using OEM or better parts and it runs great.

I have nearly all maintenance records dating back to the purchase of the car.

Details
  • 1991 318is
    M42 - 16v DOHC In-line 4 cylinder
    VIN# WBAAF9312MEE72320

Upgrades
  • BBS RX 16"
    H&R sport springs
    Bilstein Sport shocks (new)
    Turner Motorsport performance Chip
    Pioneer BlueTooth receiver (amber lighting)

Recent Updates
  • New Bilstein Sport shocks (front and rear)
Bridgestone Potenza tires (barely any wear)
    Steering rack
    All belts replaced
    Alternator
    Starter
    Valve cover gasket

    Battery
    New badges
    Flex joint
    Gauge cluster refurbish (see below)

Issues
Just recently, the temp gauge stopped working and the oil light turned on. The oil level is fine and there are no overheating issues so I'm assuming it's the sensor or possibly the gauge cluster. I will troubleshoot if I have time.

Odometer/Mileage
I had Bavarian Restoration do a full restore of the gauge cluster when the odometer and fuel level gauges stopped working last year. The mileage indicated on the car is accurate within ~250 miles.

Overall Condition
Mechanically it's in excellent shape - no major issues and it's ready for another 30 years. The exterior is good but it's beginning to show it's years with minor imperfections in the paint and some fading to the clear coat on the rear bumper. There is one small rust spot in the lower passenger side rear wheel arch and it's missing a piece of shadowline trim that runs along the passenger side window. The interior is the worst of it: The anthracite sport seats (especially the driver's side) are pretty thrashed. The dash has some small cracks that started forming last year. Otherwise, the interior is clean, but it's showing its age.

BONUS
  • I have a set of brand-new, BMW factory "IS" side skirts and all mounting hardware that I will include with the sale. These are unpainted but ready to transform the look of the car.
Includes original carphone in all it's early 90's glory

Price
$9000 OBO

I would prefer this to be an in-person sale, at least for now. I want the buyer to see and drive it before making a decision. I am located in San Diego. I will admit that I feel somewhat out of the loop on pricing, but I think this is a reasonable starting place given the low mileage and condition based on my research. If you feel otherwise, PM me and we can talk.

The best way to contact me is to message me and I'll send you my email address. Please be patient with me - I have a small business and three kids so I will be as responsive as I can be. That said, please contact me with interest or any questions.

Not that this needs a bump - but wanted to point out the lowered price.

Just so you know, usually when people say "euroweaves" they're referring to the 15" version of Style 5s because while we got the 14" wheels you have for sale here in the States, only the europeans got the 15x7 et 24 Style 5s as an option.

Thank you for this info.  I did not realize this was the case and will revise the ad - I just thought it had to do with this particular weave pattern.

It has been so many years since I used them, I always remembered them as being 15's.  I was a bit confused when my brother pulled them out of storage for me to take the pics and the tires read 14.  That clarifies things a bit!

SOLD

Got some nice wheels with tires taking up space in storage:

Wheels:
BMW Style 5's/. No curb rash. No bends. There are some small nicks here and there from typical use, but they are clean and look great overall. They include all four center caps (they don't completely match - see pics).  They came with my 91 318is when I bought it a decade ago.  I used them for one winter in 07, they have been in storage since then.
- 14" (6.5x14)
- ET 30
- 4 Lug (4x100)

Tires
Very little use over that one winter with plenty of tread life left (see pics). One tire has a plug.  All hold air just fine.
Specs
- BF Goodrich Comp T/A
- 215/60R14

The wheels are located in Centreville, VA (20120).

I recently moved to San Diego.  My brother has the wheels in VA and is helping me move these, so if you want to check them out I will connect you. You see the wheels and pay cash.  No funny business. I just wanted to put it out there now.  He took these pics last week.

Email is probably the best way to get me, but you can also PM me.  Email:  e36cosmos at gmail

hopefully not.  rather not have to pull that board if possible.

hopefully its the sensor in the tank itself.

no one else ever have this happen?

My fuel gauge has been working on and off lately (that is to say - recently it hasn't worked at all). Kind of adds an edge to taking a long trip.  Has anyone encountered this - is this a common problem with e30s? I figure it's either a short or something to do with the sensor in the tank itself.

Nice fleet of cars man.  A special note of appreciation for the 83 gti - drop a 16 valve in there? ;)

Beautiful 5 series and loving the 318is (go figure).  I also just got the same skirts from the factory - they really make all the difference.

Welcome!
