Engine + Driveline / cam sprockets
« on: May 25, 2007, 02:46:50 AM »
i´ve tried many cam setups and intake 5 deg advance is´nt setup for me! it gives nice low end but "no" top end after 5000rpm...

intake 5deg advance exhaust 1.5 retard gives very unstable idle and you have to be careful with accelarator pedal cause it has sharpened a lot :)
it was funny setup but very hard to drive daily

now running:
intake 3deg adv exhaust 3deg retard, nice low end and top end, and it idles nice

and yes, i did use measuring tool

Suspension / 318is suspension compared to E30 M3?

Trailing arms have the same part number in the ETK so they can´t be diffrent.
all 91mm trailing arms. Thats from 09/86
Before that E30´s had 88mm fitted to first facelift 316, 318i M10 and 320i
all other E30´s have the later 91mm trailing arms

i think its same geometry, size is for wheelbearing, difference is brakes, drum->disc

Suspension / E36 steering rack conversion
« on: January 30, 2007, 02:26:43 AM »
@LOL

when rack was front position front tires didnt hit inner plastics, on rear position they´ll hit it... grinding noise and marks... so i thought front tires turns more, steering wheel "touch" is much harder on last quarter of lock-to-lock.

try it and you´ll see

:) drift style because our weather is so slippery that its so easy to put it sideways all the time, and im doing it so :)

very good pages. battleversion. tnx

i bought mine E36 rack 26$, i got no power steering because of weight.

E30 got two installing point for rack ,i put it to rear position.

im bit drift style driver and rear position of rack gives more turning for wheels

i tried 3.73 diff on my iS, gear ratios were never right so i changed 4,27

long ratios on little engine, no no

only thing on that 3.73 diff was that lock kept 110nm, on 4,27 keep only 50nm :(

by the way, how much stock lsd slip nm is?
