Hi Flexz, Ik woon ook in nederland

I was hopeing that you could help me with a place name where I can buy engine parts for my m42 ?
I want to change timing chain and timing chain guide rail but can't find any place that sells them (in holland or germany).. not even on ebay.de did I find any which normally I find everything.

PS: how much are you asking for the car alone or are you selling it as a complete ?

WTB/WTT / 318is without engine florida region

hello I'm looking for a 318is in the florida region because this is the closest to ship to my location (Aruba) the car doesn't need to have an engine as I have one almost done rebuilding. so a chassis / body is all I need. preferably with minimum rust. 2 doors or convertible only.

Since you're taking the head off anyway, you can always send back the headgasket if you get the wrong one.

is the headgasket the only difference ?

My biggest problem is that the engine is in Aruba (caribbean) and I'll be there only for the month december so if I order wrong parts I might not get them changed back in time..

thanks for the info's guys .. I'll do some more investigating based on what you've told me.

is the VIN also marked on the engine it self ? because I bought the engine for my E30 and I don't know the VIN beloning to the engine..

The dme for the car has nr: 0 261 200 950, perhaps this can help narrow down the year ?

edit: I found this list which has the DME on it , says year 90-93:

Hello all,

I'm looking to buy some parts for my e36 m42 over at pelican  
One thing I need is a head gasket kit, but I see they have 3 choices.. I don't remember what year the engine is so how do I choose the correct one ?

General Topics / Engine aircargo transport rules ?

Hello all, I wanted to ask if anyone here has ever send an engine with air cargo?

I'm in the process of doing so, but when I dropped the engine at the transport agent he asked me if I have a report stating if it's dangerous goods or not.
Which I didn't have because they didn't tell me in advance I needed such.

Does anyone have any info on this ?

Hello all,

I have read some topics about this but there is no one who really answers the question, does the E36 M42 intake fit in a E30 ( 316i in my case ) ?

Some people say it doesn't clear the hood, but no one confirms this.

Some one else told me the intake won't clear the brake booster.

Can somebody help give a clear answer on this topic so it will done with for good ?

Hello folks,

I have just started my project for swapping the M40 for M42 engine in my E30 316i 1990.
I will be posting pictures and documenting what I will be doing for future reference.



I think this ecu should work, have to double check though.



This is the engine a E36 318is M42 from 1992 i think





First cylinder seems to have some corrosion goin on, anyone have any tips on this ? I'm planning a complete head gasket set and perhaps mill the head if needed.
