General Topics / M44 into E30?
« on: February 18, 2009, 11:19:01 AM »
Hey guys.  I got a cheap M44 ($300) that has lower miles than the engine in my car.  Besides swapping out the intake manifold what would I have to do to make this engine work in my car.  Will my ECU work with this engine?

Engine + Driveline / Pulling my oil pan, what to look for
« on: January 06, 2009, 08:04:52 PM »
Replaced the pan yesterday.  Didn't find any bolts in the pan and when I looked up to see if there were any empty holes I didn't see any.

This motor has been through a lot.  I've ran it low on oil, twice.  Drove for half a mile with oil pouring out of the pan.  And forgot  to tighten the oil filter cap when I started the car so tons of oil came out and the engine ran for 5 or so seconds.  233,000 miles and the damn thing is still going!

Thanks for posting that link.  Definitely going to have to give my motor a good once over.

So I punched a fairly big hole in my pan the other day.  Turned off the motor before it seized so I'm ok there.  I remember reading a while back that some people find bolts in their oil pan when they pull it, where are these from and how crucial is it that I put them back?

I also need to know the torque specs of the oil pan bolts.

Thanks.

I've had this program for my 3G since it came out, and still haven't used it.  Whoops.

Take motor and anything related to it and drop it in a new car.  Then it would be good.  That shell is horrible.

Engine + Driveline / just got my magnaflow
« on: July 10, 2008, 01:24:22 AM »
Alright so I just received my Magnaflow muffler/tip and have a question about installation.  On the last day of school I weighed my car and pulled the muffler at the cat (2600lbs dry).  I've been running like that for almost 4 weeks now and am starting to get tired of the massive vibrations and how it's too loud.

So my question is how to install the muffler.  If I just cut the stock muffler off and weld the Magnaflow on will the two straps that went around the stocker work on the MF?  Just wondering how you guys did it...

300 miles away from 230,000.  Burns some oil and compression is down.  In the process of looking for a new motor.

Yeah, I got so tired of mine I took it out.  I put it under the "weight reduction" excuse.  :D

Yeah, that gap isn't supposed to be there.  Look at the difference between this car and yours:

Thought I'd post a picture of the headunit I have.  I don't think it clashes that much and is a very nice unit.
