Interior / Seat break down
« on: March 18, 2011, 04:23:46 PM »
You will need some hog ring pliers and hog rings  to put that cover on. You can get a set for under $30. I'd get the angle pliers. it will help in tight spots.

You put your gasket in dry Redhead?  That seems a bit odd/

Engine + Driveline / Sounds good
« on: April 11, 2009, 07:55:43 AM »
That  sounds about  right. Funny  I have a new rebuilt  engine and the only leak is form the part I put  back on. I took the oil housing off  to refinish and remember an o-ring and a gasket. What did you use for gasket  sealant?  I think  I might have used hight temp silicone  when I should haved used the stickier  stuff.

Engine + Driveline / Oil leak from oil filter assembly

My 1991 m42 seems to be leaking from the oil filter housing where it bolts up to the block. Any one have this problem? Looks like just a gasket and possible o-ring to fix it. Plus initial looks point to needing to remove alternator mounting bracket to pull off oil housing. Any input?  Mucho gracias.

General Topics / OIL Housing Gasket Question
« on: November 23, 2007, 04:03:33 PM »
Does the oil  housing (to the block) gasket  need permatex or silicone? My new  rebuild has a slight oil leak  and it might be from that area. When I reattched oil  filter  housing unit  I used silicone  plus the gasket. Was  wondering if I messed it up.  Thanks..

Takings windows out is necessary. That's the EZ part. Stretching, clamping in place is the hard part.  At least oned FULL  day.  Just did a  non sun roof car which is  probable easier.

Nic Job. I picked up a set for  my 318is   for install  an now have decided against it since I already have a 325iX. So I will end up running Alpina front spoiler, Mtech rear and Taurus  side skirts( $35 at junkie). This way my 2 e30's  don't look the same...
