Swaps, Turbos, Buildups / dynotech motorsports budget turbo build

no need for this kit for anything under 10psi. thats for the big boys, and even then you're better off buying the parts you need individually.

I'm a big boy now. Look, no stains!!:p

Seriously though, once I jump on a turbo build, I'll be shooting for more than 10psi. Make a worthwhile build and do it right from the start. But that's just me though.

Looks amazing man. congrats on the build. Let me know when you're coming over to Houston. I would love to check out your ride.

which vac turbo kit are you talking about?  I looked on their site and didnt find anything.  Do you have a link?  I love the idea of turboing my m42, but dont have the time or knowledge to piece together a custom kit...

CP Forged BMW Turbo Piston Kit, includes rings, pins, and locks (8.5:1)
(4) Forged Arrow Precision H-Beam Connecting Rods with ARP Hardware

The kit costs $2300. I can't do this project until I get another job. Hopefully by then, the OP offers bolt on turbo kits or parts :D

Exterior / Cleaning the Vert top rear "glass"

I read that Windex is not recommended for the plastic window. All the other products listed will work well. ScratchX will remove some scratches, but not all.

Exterior / E30 Vert top question
« on: September 05, 2009, 10:32:40 AM »
I assume that the e30 vert also has tension straps like the e36 does. On the e36, the tension straps start to fail and fo not pull the last bow towards the front. When the bow is pulled, it gives the back portion enough room to clear the storage compartment lid. I have a manual top and I also need to replace the tension straps. The gas strut is another problem but you guys figured that part out. Good luck.

...........hmmmm

- Need a new top. The rear window is coming undone due to original threads that are rotten.
- Need driver side door panel(tan)
- Need brakes and front struts. (M3 suspension including subframe and brakes from a 98 M3 pending installation)
- Need to push out some metal on the door to attach M-moulding securely. (Body work was done, isn't necessarily straight)
- Headliner "Bat wings" or "dog ears" (whatever you want to call them) are broken.
- Need complete exhaust. Catalytic converter is not there, just a straight pipe with bad welds.
- Lately, the engine hesitates when I stomp on the accelerator either while driving or at a red light. (What can this be?)
- Need to rewire fog lights. Tire was rubbing on a wire and completely stripped about 6".
- Cooling system waiting installation
- Want to replace timing components. (Pending cooling installation to do it all at once)
- Need cowl cover. The rubber is literally breaking off, not sealing the bottom of the windshield.
- Need to reupholster rear seats.
- Need to wire up side markers. Wires are missing for some reason.
- Need power steering pump
- Need A/C compressor
- Need drivers side window regulator

I think that's it for now......

Nice car Jens. I like the Alpinas. Very nice. I would remove the ///M badg myself, but then again that's probably not frowned upon in Iceland as it is here in the Sates.

Interior / I cleaned up my interior (A lot of pics)
« on: June 18, 2009, 01:40:40 PM »
Thanks a lot. It took me 7 hours to clean up that mess. Although the cleaner (Blue Magic carpet cleaner) cleans up well, I still had to do some secrubbing to get out the bigger stains. The ones left are not that bad. I'm thoroughly happy with the results.
I've seen your thread and you have done some impressive work there. I need to freshen up a lot of things on my car but I'll take it a step at a time.

I haven't posted in this forum for a while and I figured I'd update my progress on my interior. To start, the PO did a horrible jib at dying the door panels and what not. Also, there were some 6x9s top mounted on the rear panels. Honestly it looked like utter crap. Well, my car is finally turning around and is starting to look decent. On to the pics!!
I'll start off with the old panels...yuk!

Well, I finally got around and purchased some panels off of a forum member on bimmerforums and I also finally cleaned up my carpet after a year and 3 months of ownership.

Well, that pretty much sums up my interior. I'm still in need of a drivers side tan door panel. It can come from either a coupe or vert e36 so if anyone has one available or knows somebody that does, let me know. I need it!!
Comments and suggestions are always welcome guys!!!

Definitely change your oil. I learned the hard way, because I didn't know, but by the end of the week, the oil level was at the tip of the dip stick and my engine sounded like a diesel clacker in the mornings........

Suspension / Syron Race 1
« on: March 28, 2009, 09:59:06 AM »
Yesterday, I bought a set of  Syron Race 1 tires from a forum sponsor on a local Houston BMW forum. The sizes are 235-40-18 all around for my Miro M6 reps.
Syron tires are made by Keskin wheels. Engineered in Germany and are backed by the German safety testing standards. They are DOT approved as well so they are perfectly legal.
Does anybody have any experience with these?
I'll post pics later but in the meantime, here's a link...

Click on produkte to view tires. The website is in German by the way...
What do you guys think?
