Get Togethers / $125 Track Day@ Buttonwillow Raceway- Feb 16-17 in SoCal
« on: February 13, 2013, 12:37:55 AM »
You can sign up for HPDE 1, this is where every beginner gets his start. I do believe they have instructors available for those who request it. I think you can even rent a helmet from them as well.

When I went with this group to a Willow Springs event it worked out excellent. They did a lead follow group where 1 car would take the lead and at the end of the lap would fall to the back and so on and so on so everyone got to lead at least one lap and you got to get into different positions and everyone kept it at a pretty tame pace.

Then in the following sessions you go out on your own. All passing is done by point bys. So folks can't just blast past you and scare you. If you wish to drive slow, just stay to the side and give everyone the point by. Just don't get in everyones way or making passing you difficult.

The price is a great deal, you get 4 30 minute sessions in a day. It adds up to about a $1 per minute of track time.

I do free HPDE inspections for NASA and would have no problem inspecting your car and signing off on your tech sheet. That way you ready to go when you get to the track.

Go For It!

Hello everyone. All units should start shipping this coming Monday.

Here is the count so far. We made a total of 12 units.

10 are sold

1 is spoken for, just waiting on shipping details and payment

1  has 2 folks inline, if the first backs out, the second gets it. So at  this point I would consider this group buy closed out. I will make  contact with the additional parties on Monday. If any are left after  that, I will let you know.

Now on to pictures

Connection Clamp shown in picture was temporary, all units ship with a high quality band clamp.

Video. Taken with a old digital camera so sound and vid quality are not that great, but you get the idea.

I guess that is it for now.

I want to say thanks to all of those who participated. I am sure you will enjoy your new exhaust system.

Another quick update:

We got a virgin 91' 318is to test fit on. We have test fitted the exhaust and a production jig has been manufactured. Pipe design has been completed, piping is being manufactured as we speak.

We are hoping to have a completed unit ready for final test fitting possibly and sound check as soon as this Friday the 25th.

Stromung is currently contacting participants for payment and shipping details.

We currently have 10 commitments and will most likely produce 12 units. So there may be a couple units left up for grabs.

More details to follow as we move forward.

Thanks,
Robert

Been a few months since I last posted this and I have received several emails and it seems a few of you are interested.

We where going to offer one or the other in regards the overall system  design and it seems we are agreeing on building both at this point.

We need a minimum of 5 each, or 10 total. Although this is a open group  buy and there is no maximum order limit. This will be a limited one time  run. After this group buy, there may never be another opportunity to  own a genuine Stromung exhaust for your 318is.

I will should have some numbers/pricing after the Thanksgiving Break.

You can see some of Stromung's other BMW offerings at the link below.

Ok guys and gals,

I am working again with Stromung Exhuast and are looking into developing a cat back setup for the 90-91 318i/is.

We need to get a gauge of how many folks are interested and how much the market is willing to spend.

We would need a minimum of 10 committed buyers before production can start.

We have 2 options, only 1 will go into production. (Unless there is enough interest in both options)

#1, Lower cost, stainless piping from cat back, import muffler and tip

#2 Higher cost, genuine Stromung quality setup with stainless piping from cat back, Stromung muffler and branded tip.

We do not have price estimates as of right now as we need to gauge how many will be willing to invest.

To make the exhaust we either need someone local (SoCal) to bring me their 318is to make a jig with. (Must be 100% factory setup) Or we will simply order a new muffler assembly from the dealer and make the jig from that.

If your interested simply email me at service@e30motorwerks and use '318is cat back' as the subject line. Simply provide your name, zip code, and option 1 or 2 that your interested in.

Thanks,
Robert

Vendors / GB / So who will commit to 318is/M42 skidplates?
« on: April 07, 2009, 07:02:32 PM »
Hey guys, thought you would like to know, I am/have developed a 'Severe Duty' Skid Plate that is currently for sale. Right now it is dialed in for the M20.

I am working on developing the M42 design, basically its just drilling out a hole for the front facing drain plug.

These skid plates went through 3 prototypes before final production was done. This is a professional product and will protect your oil pan from anything the mean streets can dish out. I have smashed concrete cinder blocks, done death drops onto bricks, 50mph impacts on dips, 20mph over speed bumps, 5mph impacts into curbs.

Your oil pan is safe.

Here is a link to it on E30Tech for those of you interested.

Engine + Driveline / rebuild
« on: February 16, 2009, 10:06:28 AM »
Last M42 I had rebuilt a single lifter talked back to me for about a good 10 minutes. I was rather concerned but it did go away and never gave me a problem after that.

Just let it sit at a fast idle for a good 10-15 minutes. It takes a little while sometimes.

Engine + Driveline / need water-pump help
« on: February 11, 2009, 06:25:38 PM »
What a nightmare.

If the car is still able to be started and ran for a breif moment, Strap that pump to the tree and fire up the engine and jerk that bitch in reverse. Either the come along is going to break or the water pump is going to exit the block.

Can't say thats sound advice, but you obviously have a difficult situation.
