For that price I would have thought the buyer would take everything. What are you looking to get for the shocks?




the fact that it was barely turning at all when it locked up bodes well, for the bottom end, I think. I'd give it a chance to live again.

actually, altho it looks ugly, none of that damage looks like an engine killer. I would tend to think that, after being reassembled, it would be a good back-up motor. With a new head gasket, and assuming it passes a compression test, it will be fine. Altho, you may need to stay far away from the guy who dropped em in there..

I agree, run it regardless. I might give that dinged valve an overnight leakage test first...but your nut-stamper is quite the testament to BMW's metallurgy, isn't it?
Recon you were very lucky it didn't catch the corner of the valves and mash up them up.
con rods possibly are bent, so better check them...
He did say the motor seized up, so it would (will?) be interesting to find out the extent of damage.
I'm guessing how many revs it was turning when it seized,
