wow u want to do a bunch of shit to ur car .... i found a site called fap99.com it was suggested by someone else on this forum for me to use when i need my brake pads and rotors (mind u they are still sitting in my room)

first go to http://www.fap99.com and type in the part numbers as i give them to you

BMW077027 here is a set of front brake pads they are ceramic and i bought these upon high recommendation but they were not installed yet

oil pan here is $97 http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/PEL_search.cgi?command=show_part_page&please_wait=N&make=BMW&model=BE30§ion=ENGoil&page=2&bookmark=9&part_number=11-13-1-715-266-M61 this is also a great site and i love to use it

for the wires look into doing coil packs its better performance wise and look into the fan delete for a bit of extra power

i have heard numerous of times 15in wheels are the best for and e30 and H&R with billy shocks are very common then do some polly urethane bushings for the suspension another great thing to look into is a m roadster or even a z3 shifter as a short shifter

this other site that is so great to use when buying parts is http://www.realoem.com its mostly for looking for part number and diagrams but u cant buy things off this site but its awesome when working on a car because u can print all different types of diagrams

one other this u might want to look into doing is the repairs that are explained on this thread (i jsut did most of them and it helps a bit but were not needed as much as others might because of my millage but i did it mostly for fun and the adventure) http://m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3791 also as i took off the manifold i took it to my auto class and beed blasted the manifold to get rid of all the cosmolean that is put on the BMWs at the factory then just clear coated it and it looks like brand new aluminum (the clear coat is to preserve the look of the aluminum otherwise it would tarnish and look ugly again i plan on doing the same for the valve cover but its a little too cold out lately

i hope some of this has helped u a bit

wow wut a  great thread ... i have a 92 318i vert and i today went to look at a 325is from 89 and it felt much quicker but im still contemplating on wut to do with my 318i considering i cant have 2 cars at once because i am only 17yrs old and am under my parents rules as after reading this thread i realize that a swap is the best way to have a fast e30 and i would not like to do a swap in a convertible so i think im gonna go  to the m20 for now and deal with the extra wait till i have the knowledge to do a swap myself also i think i can buy a 325 and have left over money after i sell my 318

and someone said that there are kits out there for a full m50 or s50 swap ... where could those be found

Engine + Driveline / Prep for oil pan drop
« on: January 05, 2008, 10:33:08 PM »
im a couple months into this forum but i always work on my dam m42 most of the time for preventative maintence but once i got my car on the road i smashed my oil pan (mind you exactly 8 days after i got plates)

this is a very easy procedure all i needed was a 10mm on a 1/4 ratchet and a little bit of red silicon that is i guess high heat ... i dont think it makes a difference ... when i did i never even replaced the gasket i just blobbed that sit all over the place and there are no leaks i did this because when i bought the gasket i realized it was metal and the original one was in good shape but i was like screw it bc i wanted to drive the car again

so anyway there is no trick or hidden secrets its a very easy job

one major tip i can provide for removing the air bag make sure u unplug the air bag so it doesn't  blow in ur face

the plug is located behind a plastic panel about 3x1 inch under the column and then after u use a star key to remove the air bag put the key on and take the wheel off the ( the key is need because e30s have a security lock so the wheel cant come off)

also mark the wheel with the shalf so that u can put it back on correctly

i wish i would have seen this thread early because i just took my manifold off today got it beed blasted and clear coated it and replace all those dumb annoying hoses and lines .... wut a bitch it was to do and it was like a  puzzle that wa unsolvable wut a pain and now i see this that u don't even realy need all those hoses,  im so mad right now but i must say if i was to do it again it wouldn't take as long because that dam throttle plate is getting thrown in the bottle of my tool box and it would be so easy to put everything together with out those dam four way hoses...
