Any updates?

This would be perfect for my turbo seeing how my afm just blew up from being on the boosted side.

Engine management / what engine management to go with?
« on: September 10, 2011, 12:22:05 AM »
I was going to go W.A.R chip til they dropped 318s.

I would like plug and play and easy to use maps. I read nothing but horror storys about megasquirt, but they all to seem to be old posts.

I just want to know what management for my T04e, 42lbs+, 91 octane and e85 set up.

I'd still really like to try the war chip if anybody know where to find one.

Here is a pic of the back of a spare block. There is a bolt (removed) on the back of the block that plugs a possible oil feed line. I removed the bolt and took it to a local hose a fitting guy and told him what I wanted.

I am still running on stock ecu and fuel pump with no problems. Timing is also stock. Thats why I can't exceed 8psi.

I would say bilsteins and h&r springs, cause you cant have one without the other.

This makes the car feel like it should, Sporty.

Gray 67 Mustang with a 289 V8, automatic and some mag wheels. Bought it for 3k and sold it for 5,6k. I miss that car.

I'd start with ground work. Replace every little rubber piece including tires on some new wheels. Then throw some Bilsteins with what ever springs you like with them. Then a x-brace and some nice swaybars.

After all that I'd move on to the whole drive train. Order a gasket kit for the engine. Replace any rubber hoses that are cracked and/or old. Then start with timing chain and stuff.

When the engine is good and tight, A light weight flywheel and new clutch would go in. A short shifter kit and a lsd would finish it up.

Finally with what ever $$$ is left Id install a DASC and not worry about a thing.
Cheers.

Im not a fan of body work cause one day I would be walking back to my car and see a ding or dent and my head would explode. Its not a pretty site when something from the highway nails my car. Im not a horrible driver, thats just my luck. Expecially after getting it back from the body shop.

So I got tired of driving my turbo every day. The speeding, harsh driving, abusing it when not needed. It deserves some rest.

So I got me a 94 318iS.
She is a little rough around the edges but very strong mechanically.

I through some Bilstein Sports with Bavarian Autosport springs and some style 44 rims to wake up the handling. During the install I looked over all bushings, joints and rods and found them to be in great shape. I then noticed some M3 lower control arm bushings.:)

Even though this is a DD, I want little body roll. So might install some stiffer sways and a X-brace. I promised my self no engine mods except a possible light weight flywheel.

Anyways, Some pics. Pics of the style 44 rims come tomorrow. To dark for decent pics right know.

flywheel is $250
stock m20 clutch kit is $195
upgraded clutch options go up from there

flywheels are also 12lbs for the m42 application

Figured I would save him the time and post this up. He posted it up in the middle of the thread. I only know this cause I just read the entire thing. The flywheel works with the M42 starter and requires an M20 clutch. Not sure about T-Bearing though.

Hope this helps

Thanks,

I read the entire thread when I was building my setup. I thought I saw a price once but couldn't find it again to confirm it.

I build the megasquirts here..

heres another item on the car i forgot to mention.  we do the m20 lightenbed flywheels and swap the ring gears so they are PnP for m42 as well. threw this in with a stage 3 m20 clutch.
might tack on a few extra bucks to the build for this setup as well.

I sent you a PM a couple weeks ago asking how much this flywheel is but no response.

I figure this will be a better way to find out.

So how much for just the flywheel?:)

I already have a thread as my user name so I am posting a second one for my girlfriends new used car.

I bought this car for her cause I really got tired of working on her 90 integra. Nothing makes since one that car compared to the M42.

I found this lady in Stockton selling a 94 318i 5spd for 3K with 185k miles. I call her up and ask for the vin and to veiw the car.

Carfax says it has an accident on recored but its a clean title. KBB says in excelent condition the car is worth 2,200 or something close.

She said the accident is from when they first got the car, her husband rear ended some truck. Only damaged bumper, headlights and grill (paper work to prove what was damaged).  Her husband took the money from the accident and put lowering springs and shocks with some ebay strut tower bars and some 16s.

I asked the lady what springs and shocks but she didnt know. She said "you would have to ask my husband but he would ask why. He doesnt know Im selling it. I divorced 2 months ago."

She sold the car to me for 2,200.

Any ways the car rides and drives wonderfully. Just a little slow. I forgot how slow the M42 is when not turbo'd.

Here are some pics. I already removed A sticker from the windshield that said "///M POWER". Now the M3 emblem has to be removed from the trunk.

I am not a fan of street racing but I could not resist.

I was behind the M3 saying to my buddy "that is a clean M3."

The lane opens up to 3 lanes before a red light and natualy I change lanes (I hate cars in front of me). Im not thinking race until my buddy says he wants to race you. I look over and the other dirver smiles revving his engine with his buddy or girlfriend in the passenger seat. He probably heard my BOV from the previous stop sign.

The light turns green and I slighty bog my start. At the end of first gear Im right next to him. After 2nd Im a car link ahead. During 3rd I consider the race over but hes now pissed. We merge onto the highway, after we are all clear and on the highway he speeds off while I have a car in front of me.

Then I notice the car in front is a 70's turbo'd 911 and takes off like a bat out of hell wasting the M3. I couldn't help but just laugh.

Thats it.

I do not condone street racing and if this post is not welcome I will delete it.

I just had to tell somebody.:D
