Great build up ! Finally i can see how AFM should be installed on Motronic setups, like it was on factory made cars with Motronic/turbo/AFM

Suspension / 325i sport springs for a 318is

Most likely your car won't be in balance. Those springs are made for a heavier engine, those + your back springs would offer a combo which would be unpleasent to drive. If you install those springs, install also stiffer rear ones.

Engine + Driveline / M42 single mass VS M20 single mass conversion
« on: June 05, 2012, 06:00:11 AM »
I used a special scale which gave weight 9.6kg.  I am currently doing a special wheel for Keith. We are going to get it about 8Kg. It needs to be done with special way; just milling it normal way will drop the weight about 500g. I had one wheel done with that way and got it balanced as well. Friend will re-program his CNC machine differently, so we can do it more radical way.
These wheels can be easily found here since it was used also with 316I & 318I with M40 engines. Btw, does dual mass flywheel starter work with M40/M42 singlemass flywheel ? If not, then i must put a euro M42 starter to Keith's package.

With pressure casted zinc parts i would skip citric acid. It eats those really fast. This kind of parts can be found from older cars from 50's etc.

Yes, in most cases, if you just brush parts lightly during a rinse procedure. When you start "acid bath" just be sure water is warm, it helps procedure to start faster. It takes about 20 seconds and then you can see how it starts to effect. After over night (or couple of hours) bath, rinse and slightly brush the parts and dry parts properly, if not, they will have very fast some surface rust on them.

Few parts after citric acid bath

After re -anodized

Nowadays Anodized parts are a bit lighter shade of yellow as they used to be. About a years ago all EU-countries denied use some nasty stuff they ealier used on anodized process. Here's few parts which were plated on good old days ;)

That piss yellow color is very close how all anodized parts on german made vechiles used to look from a factory.

Keith, i suppose you can do it with less effort using citric acid. Just put parts overnight bath and rinse with warm water to neutralize acid. Some slight wire brush during rinse procedure and you are done ;)

I suppose there will be a lot more space in Keith's garage when he have sold all the parts he have to me..... You can also send that CB750,  not a problem. I used to have a CB 500 when i was a teenager. My dad said no to CB 750 back then :(
