I still don't see the kit in www.racehead.com.au website, well i guess it will pop up in time. But what I have understood is that the kit is now up for sale in some sort of RHDs re-sellers Taiwan page at http://www.alluringarage.com/products/rhd-for-bmw-m42m44-itb-kit

I have no clue what it says in Taiwan (or chinese whatever they speak in there, can someone translate? :D) in the page, but then somehow I bumped in to this in their page: http://www.alluringarage.com/rhdengineering/rhd-technical-documents/12284.html So does this mean that I have to buy a separate item for the kit to fit M44 because it has a different idle control than the M42? Is the Idle motor fitting piece already developed? I could use a little info here :)

Try Google chrome and use the translate page option.  Some things don't translate directly but you can work it out.

I've been following this project for a while, but until now I didn't have an account on this forum yet. This may be a crazy question, but is it possible to attach a supercharger to an m42 with an ITB kit like this installed? I've heard of ITBs + Supercharger before but I can't really imagine in my head how it would work, or what it would be like. Do you have any insight?

You may need to add something like this to keep temps down http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=191828

Might not be a bad idea on the standard NA setup either

This looks promising for E30, I think we have more space to play on the firewall side.  Any plans to test on one?

Sorry about that, will do.

Hey, I don't mind, it all flows.

Thanks, I've been considering having a motor built, it would be for street/canyon/track use.  I am very new to this realm but have a good general understanding as well as been slowly educating myself through threads like this.

In the video it mentioned the M60 trays allow use of a lighter valvetrain and results in a higher revving engine.  How does it affect the torque/hp curves?  Personally I would want to gain more bottom end torque while keeping as much of the top end liveliness as possible.  I like the characteristics of the M42 and wouldn't want to change it much other than making it more powerful.  Ideally I'd like to make a 2.0L and achieve 200HP.

I like your thinking in building it bottom up, its more future proof. You can always add to it.

Good luck with your build, looking forward to the outcome!

Regarding the cam trays, anyone familiar with this mod?

Engine + Driveline / Re: Mustang Injectors in an M42 engine

Hello,

I came across these which are advertised as a direct upgrade for the 91-94 318i/iS. (0 280 156 013)

http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/product-search/?v=16383

Any thoughts/experience?
They flow about 15% more over stock, which seems like a lot.

While looking around I also found this very detailed spreadsheet with Bosch injector data.

http://www.usrallyteam.com/content/products/injector/Bosch_Injector_data.xls

Source
http://adaptronic.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=2636.0

I found an EV14 injector in the list (0 280 158 107) and the specs are very close to stock, but the resistance is 12 ohm as opposed to 15.3 ohm and the distance between o rings is 60.65 as opposed to 60.5 yet the overall length is the same @ 77.

Also found the Bosch Datasheet for it.

(0 280 158 107) - http://www.bosch-motorsport.de/en-US/literature/en-US/Injection_Valve_EV_14_Datasheet_51_en_2775993867.pdf

Some questions for an expert:

1.  Does the engine management accept a range of impedance values (12-16) and adjust based on the actual resistance values?

2.  Did E30 M42s have different injectors than E36 M42s during the same time frame 91-94

3.  Is the diameter standard for all Bosch injectors?  Don't want fuel leaks.

4.  Will EV14 work without having to upgrade engine management?

Thanks,
Bryon

Is there a place to look up the options and maybe find some pics?

Great information! Particularly the differences between them, and the info on internals for NA builds.  Are there any detailed write-ups on building out a 2.0 or 2.1?

Hello,

Well I bought my first BMW about a month ago, a 1991 318ic.  I paid $2900, it had 117,800 mi and it spent 90% of the last 12 years in storage.  The previous owner lived out of the country but would use the car when he would visit family about twice a year.  He was the second owner and bought the car from the first owner in 96'. This forum is a great resource and I look forward to learning about this car and what I can do to maintain and improve it's condition.  I will post mods, fixes and upgrades here in this thread.

Thanks,
Bryon

Exterior / Was there ever a dark green 318is color?
« on: August 14, 2012, 02:47:38 AM »
I have a 91 vert with the Laguna Green, never was a big fan of green for cars but this particular green has grown on me and I've been complimented on it a few times since I've got it.  It has shades of blue-green to green-black depending on the light.  I believe the 'is' trim was limited to a few colors from the factory as mentioned above.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and a proud first time BMW owner.  I just bought my E30 318ic Cabrio a couple weeks ago and I love the hell out of this car.  Needs a little love but the previous owners kept it well, wont take much to have it loking and running like new .  It spent half of it's life in storage and only had 117K miles on it. It even had the original owners manual with the audio tape.

I look forward to learning about this great car and maybe getting to know some of you as well.
