Title: E36 M42 DME 1.7.2 error
Post by: selespeed on August 24, 2016, 01:26:36 AM
i have been having this lately or maybe for a few months already...

DME 1.7.2 errors when diagnosed:

100 Engine Control System

Does anyone know what this error is? How can I rectify this?

In addition, the service indicator light stopped at "orange" warning level. But did not advance to RED even after 6 months of driving. But i changed my oil at regular intervals by monitoring the mileage

Thanks

teo

I assume on some of the sensors (cams, crank or oxygen)
I saw somewhere a table of sensors resistance so you could do a checkup on your own to see if sensors are not broken.

Hope it helps

the sensors are new! i don't think they're broken. because if they're, DME would have recorded these errors. Btw, error code 100 is about DME. Where is the relay for DME located?

Yeah, that seems like an ECU-related  code.

The relay will be under the plastic cover that runs across the top of the firewall.

Normally white.  It's the one with 5 pins  The other 2 have 4 and are fuel pump and o2 heater.

i have the relay replaced and the error still appears even after resetting it. therefore, the problem is not solved and is due to something else. i am wondering if persistent problem in a/c is the cause of the problem. the error code 85 is due to a/c compressor that is forced on all the time (e36 DME in a e30 chassis). so this error 85 is always on. maybe the mechanic did something to make it on all the time in order to  overcome a/c problem.

how do you guys solve the a/c compressor problem with a e36m42 engine in e30?

Do you have a custom chip installed?
