Decals...can we make a decision soon? [Archive] - M42club.com

Well, the idea has been out for a while, but everyone has their own preferences, tim ezones, and designs. It comes dowm to: A decal is better than NO decal. So, let's make a decision, soon.

I would prefer to stick with a decal that resembles our forum banner up top. That way things are more homogeneous across the board. I think the blues used are a very good set to use as official club colors.

With that said, here is my last contribution. Did we ever decide how close somethign could be to the BMW roundel? I think this is different enough. I have seen some that bear closer resemblance on merchandise elsewhere.

This has a total of 4 colors, assuming white is transparent on the decal.

Good good. Now, I am not FORCING anyone to go with this decal. Yes, I am president of this club, not the dictator (although a little dictating can get things done faster :D ), so do not think I am making everyone's decision for them. If I see no complaints, then I will work on contacting [forgot who] about making them.

Size:
Here is where I am open to suggestions. The H-to-W ratio is 5.11:1.
So possible sizes would be along the lines of (WxH):
51.1cm x 10cm
35.8cm x 7cm
25.6cm x 5cm
15.3cm x 3cm
I guess for somethign that would go in the rear-side window the 5cm tall one would be about right, the 7cm tall would be getting a little large.

Thoughts? Who has connections for these thigns so we can keep costs to a minimum?

hmmm. I still say this looks cleaner and more sophisticated. Even is it was just one color.

I like it as well, but the issue is that it has a drop shadow around the lettering which is a BIG part of why it looks so good. Doing a gradient like that on vinyl...$$$. Like I said, open to suggestions. Take the drop shadow off of the one Streetspec suggested & see how it looks. The roundel can go on mine, too BTW.

hey mate. for me, its not about the gradient or the shadow, (i'd actually like it in single color) its just the clean look of the lettering. Not trying to be a difficult prick, lol, must just be the typographer in me. hehe. :rolleyes:

What is the font used in the the banner one?

Well, I have no problem with the site logo in single color, or simply w/o the shadow. I have no idea what the font is that was used.

A forum i am a member off called www.e30zone.co.uk also did polls etc and that like we have done here to determine the best sticker design etc.. it was all very civil and that but a decision was never made and it was over two years before one of the mods just made his own, simple design and got it printed an then it still took 3 months to ship them out. dont make the same mistake guys, i would love some of these stickers for my car but dont keep everyone waiting for years! (not moaning etc)

Alright, we are going to use the forum logo, in the colors it stands in right now (minus the shadowing and roundel). It is the simplest, and will raise the least opposition from those that want something simple & a little more 'classy.'

I will message Sheepdog to see what font that is, and have him make one that can be 5cm H x 26cm W in 300dpi. Then we will see about getting these made up.

It is probably doable for some price. It may be cheaper to send yuo a high-res copy of the image & have you find a local printer. We shall see when that time comes though.

OK, the font the site one is in is Futura Condensed, a font that has to be purchased (its $22 per font...$22 regular, $22 italic, $22 bold, $22 etc). Man, I remember the days when you could get like any font for free. Fockers. This one was a free one called Blue Highway that I liked. So, I guess if nobody here has Futura then how's this?

Time to get stuff rolling! I'll make a PSD when I get home and adjust the kerning so the letters are closer together.
This is Futura Condensed, and Futura Condensed Extra Bold. I think we are sticking with the extra bold.

Hey guys, I'm 92 mtechnic cabrio on r3v, e30cabrio on e30tech. I made r3v stickers. I make lots of stickers, like E30 LTW flags for example. Anyways, Eurospec pointed me to this thread. And I would love to help you guys out.

Very slick. If 2 color is what you can do that's fine, otherwise the M42 was one blue (#314773) and the CLUB another (#3D5686). Gray #888891.

The roundel one is slick, if there would be no copyright issues it IS the ONE. A little uniquness is needed, and we are never gonna decide otherwise. Roundel if there would be NO worries of licensing infringement, the other one if there is. Above specified colors if possible!

there will be no worries about copyright infringement, because if you make enough comparisons, you can easily tell that it is not an exact duplicate.

Also, I cut actual vinyl material, I don't print, so I can't make it the exact color, but I will find you a blue that matches very well.

Somebody in charge PM me their address so I can send them a sample.
