View Full Version : "Back With A Vengeance" Poster

My mechanic has this poster hung on the wall in his shop. (It's 24" x 30" - the same image with the red e30 as the opening page of this site.)

So, I'm wondering if that poster is still available (unlikely) or whether someone has made a digital copy that I can buy (hopefully).

Anyone?

I'd buy one..

Makes sense to me...

So I borrowed the poster from my mechanic and it's now being scanned and the blemishes retouched. It will cost me $125. to get that much done.

I priced a series of actual-size outputs from the color lab and they are pricey.

I'd need to print more than ten to get the price down to $55. each.

So, you'll have to *really* want one plus donate some money to the Club.

Does it have the wording also?

Yup. It's the BMWNA factory-issue dealer promotional poster.

Copy reads in large Helvetica type along the bottom edge:

BACK WITH A VENGEANCE - THE 318is

or maybe it's:

THE 318is - BACK WITH A VENGEANCE

(Can't remember)

It's a really cool image and graphic. It's so mesmerizing I just stare at it.

Makes me glad I have a Brillantrot 318is, that's for sure!

I'd want one, but not for $50. Here's a link to the r3v thread where I found the picture.

The scan is complete and the retouched corners are now crispier than new.

It appears as if I'll be putting in an order for some outputs in a few days.

The advantage of a digital scan doesn't require I make the new posters in their original 24" x 30" size. Believe me, that can lower the cost-per-poster substantially.

More info as details develop.

Can you host the digital scan somewhere that we can download?

Hmm That's and awesome picture, I'd love a poster, but not for $50... oh and It may be me but does that m42 look like it's got euro grills? But with U.S. side marker trim?!?

I think so, and it also looks like the high beams have elips, and 15in wheels

I would buy it. Mabye for a little less, but I could probably squelch it. I wouldn't mind putting that in my room..

So, meanwhile, I've got the retouched image on disc. My pocket book is a full C-note smaller.

If I weren't concerned about BMW NA suing me for copyright infringement, I'd have a whole stack of posters made to keep the costs down.

If you gave us free copies of the digital image - you wouldn't be making money off their stuff :D.

That's true.

And if you bought me jewelry and other nice things, I might consider it. :D

How about you get a commitment from 10 of us M42'ers for $20 per poster, and then you will have doubled your investment, and we don't get hosed so bad for a poster price?

Just food for thought.

Ummm...the math doesn't work.

So far, I'm into this project for $100. If I want 10 original size copies @$55., add $550.

Then it's up to $650.

If I can sell 10 of them for $20. each, subtract $200.

Then instead of being out $100., I'm out $450. and no poster for me.

Sounds like a heckuva deal -- for you guys, anyway...

Sorry. I missed the part where copies are $55 each. I just went back and re-read everything. Dang, $55 per copy eh?

FWIW, now that the image is scanned, I *can* get them produced 18" x 24" for about half the price.

Why don't you sell the digital scan to us, so we can print it? I'm sure a lot more people are willing to spend $10-$15 for the digital scan, and print it some where we like, then to pay 55 for one poster.

Hi. I'm an architect (duh) and he have this rocking Oce color printing machine....
and I can buy a color toner cartridge and a roll of glossy paper and, I have keys to sneak in at night...
I''m sure BMW NA has made its money on the E-30 by now, and then there's the whole M42 profile gasket fiasco, sell me the digital and I'll make a load of posters, and figure out the cost per.
